Description
ELGi EPFP20 Prefilter 20CFM Service Element
Coalescing Prefilter Stage • 20 CFM
This EPFP prefilter element is designed to capture wet particulates and oil aerosols to protect downstream fine and carbon stages in compressed air filtration trains.
Coalescing pre filtration grade targets wet particles down to 1 micron and oil aerosols down to 0.1 mg/m³ (ISO 8573-1:2010 (2:-:2)). Verify compatibility using your ELGi equipment model/serial and service parts list before ordering.
Key Features
- Prefilter stage helps prevent premature loading of downstream fine and carbon elements.
- Targets moisture-related carryover and wet particulate contamination at the point of use.
- Service element format supports routine replacement with minimal downtime.
- Helps maintain stable pressure drop when replaced at planned intervals.

Benefits
- Improves reliability of valves and air tools by reducing moisture and particulate carryover.
- Helps extend the life of downstream fine/coalescing and carbon elements.
- Supports consistent system pressure by controlling restriction growth.
Installation & Application Notes
- Install upstream of fine and carbon stages for best overall filtration performance.
- Monitor restriction using a differential pressure gauge where fitted; replace before excessive pressure loss.
- Always depressurize and lock out the housing prior to service.
- Verify compatibility using your ELGi equipment model/serial and service parts list before ordering.
Frequently Asked Questions
ELGi EPFP20 Prefilter 20CFM Service Element
▶️ Question: Why do I need a prefilter if I already have a fine filter?
Answer: A prefilter captures bulk contamination first, extending fine element life and keeping pressure drop lower.
▶️ Question: Does a prefilter remove oil vapour?
Answer: It targets oil aerosols; use a downstream carbon stage for oil vapour reduction.
▶️ Question: How often should I replace this element?
Answer: Annual replacement or replacement when DP indicates restriction is a common guideline; heavy contamination may require more frequent service.
▶️ Question: Can I place this after the fine filter?
Answer: Prefilters are normally installed upstream; placing them downstream can reduce filtration efficiency and carbon life.
▶️ Question: How do I confirm fit?
Answer: Match the element to your EPFP housing size and service parts list.
