IS YOUR SYSTEM READY FOR THE SUMMER

Four Tips to Consider

Heat and water may help the grass grow in summertime, but they can both make your air compression systems struggle.  Keep your compressed air system ready and operating correctly with these 4 tips:

1) KEEP THE COOLER COILS CLEAN

Higher temperatures make everything hotter, including the fluid running through your air-cooled compressor. Since the difference between the ambient and the fluid discharged from the air end is smaller, so keeping the cooler coils clean, to affect better heat transfer.

2) KEEP INTAKE CLEAN AND CLEAR.

As it gets hotter, people may open doors to keep air moving through the building, which can introduce outdoor contaminants (cottonwood, etc.), that can clog your intake filters or coolers and restrict airflow.

3) ENSURE CORRECT OIL LEVEL

Since we are counting on the fluid to carry heat away from compression, we want to ensure that we have the correct amount and condition. Too much fluid will find its way downstream and contaminate filters and air treatment equipment. Not enough fluid causes compressors to run at high temperatures and can cause shutdowns and potential damage over time.

4) CHECK YOUR DRAINS

Summer months bring humidity, which means the air you are compressing has lots of water in it – and we need to get it out of your system. Make sure your current drains are operational and checked at all compressors, receiver tanks, dryers, and filters. It is also important to make sure the condensate drains are sized and applied properly. We carry many types of high quality condensate drains if you determine any of your drains need upgrading or replacing.
