IAC/PTG was asked to perform a comprehensive audit of the compressed air system in this facility. The plant was originally operating at 95 psig. There were three main goals for this audit. The first goal was to establish the minimum operating pressure. The second goal was to identify pressure drops caused by inefficient piping. The final goal was to evaluate the operating efficiencies of the air compressors and air dryers.
Recommendations
Install a flow controller.
Add additional storage.
Replace inefficient compressors with two-stage rotary screw compressors.
Benefits
Stabilized air pressure within 2 psig.
Reduced power cost by approximately 40%.
Reduced artificial demand
Lowered plant operating pressure from 95 psig to 85 psig.
Project pay back was 1.2 years.
